Constant modernization of hydraulic drives increases the requirements to the materials used for their maintenance. The oil must be adapted for use in a wide temperature range, comply with generally accepted environmental standards, and have a long operating period.

• the presence of useful additives that improve their characteristics,
• compatibility with other materials.

Hydraulic oils can have different composition. There are synthetic, water-glycol, petroleum oils. Most products are made from petroleum fractions, which undergo hydrocatalytic and extraction purification. To improve physical, chemical, operational indicators, additives with antioxidant, anticorrosive, antiwear, antifoaming characteristics are introduced into the composition.

Features of the choice

Before buying hydraulic oil, it is important to pay attention to the viscosity index, so it is necessary to know exactly the type of hydraulic pump, its capacity and pipeline parameters.

If you buy hydraulic oil that has a viscosity level lower than the minimum permissible, the hydraulic pump's power will be reduced and lubrication conditions will deteriorate. As a result of increased friction intensity, parts will wear faster and the risk of mechanism failure will increase. When using a lubricant of prohibitively high viscosity level, mechanical losses will increase, the hydraulic system will not be able to operate normally at low temperatures.

The presence of phenolic or amine additives in the composition of the oil provides an increase in antioxidant properties. Such grease remains stable and does not thicken due to the addition of exhaust particles.

The compatibility of the oil with the hydraulic pump mechanism materials is also an important requirement. If the lubricant is incorrectly selected, rubber seals may be destroyed due to the large number of aromatic hydrocarbons in its composition.

There should be no water or impurities in quality oil. Foreign elements can lead to clogging, cause jamming of the mechanism, premature wear. Water provokes hydrolysis of individual components of the oil, which contributes to the formation of sludge and clogging of filters, gaps of the unit.
